Trees

Black and white photographic images of trees. I love walking amongst trees and through peaceful woodland and forests where I find a real connection with nature and the sounds of the animals and birds that make the forests their home. With trees consuming carbon dioxide to produce much of the oxygen we breath, it can only be hoped that more efforts are made across the world to prevent the destruction of these life giving natural resources. Quite often when i'm out walking I will sit down on the trunk of a fallen tree and slowly breath the fresh air and take in the surrounding sounds and smells of nature finding my own inner peace and balancing my mind. I strongly believe there is no better medicine for our mental health than being amongst nature and taking a moment to let our minds forget about the stresses of our daily lives.

Tring Park Trees

Dead And Gone
This ancient tree in Tring Park which lay decaying for many years was eventually brought down in a storm and has since been removed leaving virtually no trace of its once majestic existence

Dead Tree Of History
This decaying tree in Tring Park is no longer in existence after it was brought down in a storm about a year after this photo was taken. All that remains is empty space giving light and room where new and young trees can thrive and reach full maturity.

Tree Fungi
Taking a walk along the Ridgeway National Trail near Tring Park in 2016 I stumbled across this very distinctive tree at the side of the path. I noticed how well established and healthy the fungi consuming this dying tree had become, feeding off the decaying trunk and protruding from behind the bark. I felt this was an excellent example of the cycle of nature where as one organism dies, another takes it place and is nourished from the decaying matter.
